Rising Voices charity cover of Depeche Mode’s “People Are People”  
November 18, 2020

Surely Lorraine is one of 36 world-wide musicians (including Alphaville frontman Marian Gold) participating in the release of a special new cover of Depeche Mode’s enduring classic, “People Are People.” Proceeds will benefit the NAACP Empowerment Program, the Southern Poverty Law Center and Head Count. The music video and stream are due out on Friday, Nov. 20 (more info).

Yay! LA Mag premieres music video for “Attachments”  
January 13, 2019

The music video for the song “Attachments” premiered on the Los Angeles-based arts, music, culture blog Yay! LA Mag in December. Editor-in-Chief Daniel Antonio Barron said of the song: “… Like the full album itself, it synthesizes folk rock, New Wave, and gothic sensibilities into something aching and beautiful.”

Surely Lorraine will be playing the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month 2018 showcase co-presented by Moonroom and PLAG Presents on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at Lot 1 Cafe in Echo Park (1533 West Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026).  
Doctors & Engineers, Lions! and Smiling Beth also share the night.  
The show is 21+, Free.

Surely Lorraine will also play the Smell in Downtown Los Angeles (247 S Main St, Los Angeles) on June 23, 2018, with Earth Is a Death Star, Cheekface and Lost Anyway. The show is $5, all ages.

Surely Lorraine’s debut album “Desdemona Resurrect” will be released on October 22, 2017, and is now on presale via Bandcamp (digital, cd and vinyl) and iTunes (MFiT format).

Through Bandcamp, a download of the first track, “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” is instantly available (in multiple formats – MP3, FLAC, etc) after purchase. Purchase of a cd or vinyl also comes with the digital download upon album release (and the instant download of the first track). The album features 3 covers and 5 original songs, half cowritten with/produced by Boz Boorer at Serra Vista Studios (Portugal) and half coproduced by Surely Lorraine and Eric Berdon (Los Angeles). The album is mastered by Emily Lazar at Lodge Mastering (New York), assisted by Chris Allgood. Cover artwork is by Katy Unger.

Surely Lorraine Songs Feature in the Soundtrack for Quentin Lee’s “The Unbidden”

The songs “Daybreak” and “Calling Out” are featured in director Quentin Lee & writer NaRhee Ahn’s horror movie “The Unbidden”, starring Tamlyn Tomita, Amy Hill, Julia Nickson, Elizabeth Sung, Michelle Krusiec, Karin Anna Cheung, Akemi Look, Kimberly-Rose Wolter, Hayden Szeto, and Jason Yee. Born in Hong Kong and a graduate of UC Berkeley, Yale University, and UCLA, Lee’s other credits include “Shopping For Fangs” (codirected with Justin Lin), “Drift”, “Ethan Mao”, “White Frog”, and “The People I’ve Slept With”.

Halloween show at Highland Park’s Future Studio Gallery

Surely Lorraine is happy to announce a pre-Halloween show on October 11, 2014, from 7 – 10 p.m. during NELA Second Saturday Gallery Night at Future  Studio Gallery in Highland Park, California.

Stay for the whole show or wander through the current installation of Dan Van Clapp’s MYSTERY WRECK 2 and the wonderful, eclectic curiosities of the Chicken Boy Shop. It’ll be a fun, casual night.

Future Studio Gallery is located at 5558 North Figueroa Street, Los Angeles, CA 90042, just below the beloved Chicken Boy’s roost along the old historic US Route 66.

Coproduced by rockabilly guitarist/producer Boz Boorer and producer/engineer Glenn Suravech, the featured mix for the music video can best be described as Indie dream-pop punk.

The maxi-single also features original rock and goth versions of “Calling Out” written with the music of Charlie Browne and recorded at Serra Vista Recording Studios in the lush, southern mountains of Portugal. A savory orchestral mix and a couple techno/deep house mixes are also thrown in for fun.
